Goodbye Dog Breath!- Houndstooth Dental

Bo's loving kisses have become something close to torture lately because of his terrible stinkbreath.  It got so bad the past few days that I finally scratched "Schedule Bo's Dentist Appointment" off of my to-do list.  I was a bit nervous to have dental work done at the vet's office with anesthesia because I have heard horror stories.  So I decided to try non-anesthetic dental cleaning first and go from there. I had seen an ad for Houndstooth Dental at an event I went to recently and went online to read some reviews. After a lot of positive feedback, I decided to give it a shot!

Dali (one of the sisters that started the company almost 20 years ago) came right to my apartment and Bo immediately loved her!  She was so great with him and made him feel instantly comfortable.  The cleaning took about 30 minutes and she explained to me what she was doing every step of the process.  She also gave me lots of tips for home cleaning and care.  The visit cost me $130 but that was minimal compared to the estimate I got from my vet's dental services with anesthesia.

All-in-all, I was very impressed with this convenient service!  I will absolutely schedule another appointment with Dali in the future and would recommend her to friends.  Plus, Bo's kisses are no longer so smelly... hooray!

  1. Would it interest anyone to know that the owner of houndstooth, Kathy Schafer, was convicted in June 2012 of unlaeful/unlicensed practice of veterinary dental services, and was sentenced to community service and probation with the condition that she NOT attempt to perform such services ever again? It's all posted on the web.

  2. My sister took her dog to Houndstooth and loved her experience with them. However, she learned that holistic cleanings with Houndstooth every 6 months destroyed her dog's gums and teeth. Their dog ended up with a lot of abscesses, loss of bones etc the dog lost about 20 teeth! Just a suggestion...please Google the company for any complaints or history.
